You can expect to feel a tiny pinch upon needle insertion; but the most sensation you'll feel is the energy inside your body while the needles are doing their work
Acupuncture can be used to balance the body for both internal and external symptoms. I mostly treat patients for stress, anxiety, depression, women's health, headaches, sciatica, low back & chronic pain, fertility, pregnancy, and PTSD.
Your first session will take an hour and a half where we will talk in depth about your client intake form, which will be followed by an acupuncture treatment. Subsequent treatments last one hour, where we will build on your first treatment, and thoughtfully create a regiment that works for you.
I usually suggest to come in once every other week to start the process. Each client is unique, so what's most important is finding the right rhythm for you.
The majority of Acupuncture points are located on the head, torso, back, arms, legs, hands and feet. Patients should try to avoid racerback bras, and bring a change of shorts if it makes them feel comfortable.
If there's any part of your body that you aren't open to us treating, please be sure to let me know.
We absolutely can. In Chinese Medicine we look for patterns, not diseases. This way we are able to treat the patient as a whole unit by examining all symptoms, and how they are collaboratively manifesting in the physical body. We do this by assessing the cause of multiple factors, allowing us to start from the source, not the symptom.
At this time I accept cash, checks, Venmo, Paypal, and most credit cards including HSA and Flexible Spending Accounts. Unfortunately I am unable to accept insurance at this time.
Your first few Facial Acupuncture Treatments can diminish fine lines, help with sagging, skin discoloration, drooping eyelids, crows feet, '11's', and most lip wrinkles.
If someone has thinner skin, or more sun damage, we may want to see you more often, for a longer period of time.
Every body is unique, so getting to know what’s happening for you will help us to determine the right schedule for you individually.
What we do know is that it takes 12 weeks for your body to start producing new collagen. For this reason, we typically suggest once per week, for at least 6 weeks, before moving to a bi-weekly or monthly schedule for maintenance.
As with most things, the deeper the wrinkles — the more treatments needed.
Keeping the skin hydrated is the key to maintaining your Rejuvenation service.
It's been noted that people with naturally oily skin can have results last anywhere from one month to six weeks, past the initial 6 week treatment protocol. People with finer, dryer skin, will likely need to come more often.
It's important to note that this is preventative medicine, and we can't prevent aging; so results are unique for every person.
Our goal is to achieve results that are desirable, that you can really notice. Know that we are here to support you throughout the process.
Self Care & A Healthy Diet.
A healthy lifestyle is the best way to maintain the effects of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture.
What we suggest are having a well rounded diet incorporating all flavors and colors, good sleep patterns, healthy water consumption, and resources to help manage emotions, Getting out in nature and movement are both great ways to care for yourself - and subsequently your face.
Proper consumption of Vitamin C and protein (plant or animal) are essential to the growth and development of collagen. As the collagen molecules are produced, they glue themselves together and convert to fibers. The strands grow together, attaching to the skin cells as an anchor, thus holding the skin in place.
Studies show that high-sugar diets and refined carbohydrates (grains, like white bread, that have been stripped of all bran, fiber, and nutrients) are the major contributors to wrinkles and premature aging. When your blood sugar is high, it can create free radicals that oxidize fats and create an inflammatory response - causing cell damage. This is why we suggest switching to natural sweeteners with low sugar to lessen these effects.
Yes and No.
This just means that theres a couple more questions that need to be asked...
1. Has it been longer than three weeks since your treatment?
We ask this because research suggests that it takes about two weeks for these products to show their full expression. If there are any issues (drooping eyelids, inflamed lips, etc) we want to know that Acupuncture hasn't hindered the process of your Botox treatment.
2. Where was it injected?
We don’t want to treat anywhere near where the Botox or Filler was injected. This means that if you’ve had a treatment on your forehead, we could work on the neck and mouth, etc., but not the forehead until the Botox or Filler has nearly worn off. We suggest contacting whomever injected your Botox to confirm the placement of your injection so we do not work with that portion of the face.
Have you recently had a face lift, fat injection, or any other surgeries (cosmetic or not) on the face?
We feel comfortable starting treatment no sooner than one year post your procedure. If it has been less than three years since your procedure, we may ask you to speak with your surgeon, and have them provide us with written clearance for you to begin your Facial Acupuncture sessions.
Yes, it can make a face lift last longer.
Just remember the face takes a full year to heal post your procedure. We want to make sure the incisions, swelling, and any another healing is complete prior to starting your Facial Rejuvenation treatments.
As with any cosmetic surgery on the face, we may require written consent from your surgeon prior to beginning Facial Acupuncture treatments.
Unfortunately we do not recommend women that are pregnant receive Cosmetic Acupuncture, this is because...
We'd love to support you with Acupuncture and other Eastern healing modalities during pregnancy, and have all the tools to do so. We're most comfortable beginning Facial Rejuvenation treatments while you are breast-feeding, and are still unable to use those products that you had loved for your face before you were pregnant.
Please see our Full Body Healing offering for more information about treatments tailored specifically for you.
Doing any type of facial needling can cause a person's blood pressure to rise. In this case, we would work with the body first to naturally control the BP rates before working on the face.
If you experience chronic migraines on a regular basis with unknown causes (not due to menses or recent illness), Facial Acupuncture can cause this condition to worsen. Similar to those with High Blood Pressure, we would initially work to find the root cause of the migraines prior to treating the face.
Unfortunately, No.
Because of Acupuncture's ability to ascend energy, we'd prefer to avoid any trigger that could potentially stimulate a seizure. That being said, there are so many other ways we can utilize Acupuncture on other places throughout the body to balance the physical and emotional. Please see our Full Body Healing on the Offerings page for more details.
Other things to be aware of are whether you have been diagnosed with Diabetes, Hepatitis, Facial Herpes or Shingles, or Coronary Disease. Also, please be sure to note if you have any allergies to nut oils or Arnica gels (made from daisies).
